This is a solo project I’ve decided to start because I almost don’t know anything about any country around the globe (probed by losing everyday on GeoGuesser). Let’s fix that by studying them, one by one!
We have 195 countries in all the planet, by the date I’m writing this. Studying them shouldn’t be that hard; I have to read & write about one each day, starting on July, so at the end of December (approximately, I didn’t calculate) I’ll be finishing.
I’m basing my studies on this two pages: Countries Of The World, and Flags Of The World.. (In spanish: paises.net). Some of the things I’ll be reading could be from Wikipedia too. The project progress/log is documented here.
Disclaimer: Everything here is found out there on the web and is not my personal opinion AT ALL. I did not went to any (or most) of the countries I mention here. This is only informational, personal and educational, for me. Those are only data, numbers, stats, not opinions or thoughts I had.
Day #2 - Kosovo 🇽🇰
I learnt about this country some very sad stories. Kosovo is a pretty young country placed in Southeast Europe, limited by Serbia 🇷🇸 (North and Northwest), Albania 🇦🇱 (Southeast), North Macedonia 🇲🇰 (Southwest), Montenegro (East).
It was in war with Serbia🇷🇸 recently, 20 years ago. Right now, the conflicts lives in society. This conflict stills alive and thats proved by the Mitrovica Bridge. It divides two completely different communities: The serbs and the albanians, one of each live in their side of the river. The Kosovo etymology is related to “blackbird” in some way.
Kosovo’s flag is truly unique, it has the country map as the central motif, the same as Cyprus🇨🇾. The six stars are a reference to the six ethnics that live there. The two main ethnics are Albanians and serbs. That’s why you might see out there (social media) many Albania flags but made blue. I think it is because many kosovar people stills identifies with Albania as their nation. Or maybe they are decedent’s of Albanian people idk. Dua Lipa is Albanian, but was raised in Kosovo. So she says about herself that she’s Kosovar.

Day #1 - Albania 🇦🇱
I’ve learnt about Albania a lot of things today. It’s capital is Tirana (Tiranë). It corresponds to the Balkan Peninsula and Southeast Europe. It has the perfect mix of beaches and mountains (or at least, that’s what people says). In it’s capital, there’s no enough place to park your car so people leave their car with their parking lights on “anywhere” and they’re good to go.

There you have a brief storyof the Albania flag:
Albania Flag
Albanian flag consists of a red leaf where a black double-headed eagle is depicted. The flag was adopted in 1912, when Albania gained independence from the Ottoman Empire. The origin of the flag is associated with a national hero Skanderbeger (formerly George Kastrioti), who lived in the fifteenth century and who was a general of the Turkish army. However, Skanderbeger left the army so that he can return to Albania and erect the flag with double-headed egle above the castle of his father in Kruje with words: “I did not bring you freedom. I found it here, among you.” After his return to Albania, Skanderbeger managed to unify Albania and defend it against the Turkish attacks.
Albanians are very warm hearted people. They will welcome you with cheers. In almost all of the country, people speaks albanés. It is their main language, and is pretty unique because it is kinda an inheritance from their country founders. Then, everybody speaks also english and many people speaks greek too.
St. Mother Teresa was from Albania! That’s awesome. Albania is a very religious country of Europe (I want to know if it is the most). Their main religions are Islam, Ortodox Catholics and then us, the Roman Catholics (Wuju!), but those are just stats… maybe they aren’t as religious as their stats says.
The geology of Albania is mainly leaded by recently uplifted and reshaped mountains range. The one I’ve read most about is called Albanian Alps, made primarily by carbonate and igneous rocks.
