Today I wanna talk about planning less and doing more. And how many circumstances (like seasonal changes) affect us in this matter. Many times I find myself over-planning stuff and not actually finishing anything. I’ve started a lot of projects this year but almost none has progressed in some way. My energy for finishing things has been taken by the overwhelming weight of university, and that’s okay, but I don’t want to make excuses anymore.
I’ve read a lot on this topic lately. Maybe my head’s still on autumn and is focused on processing more than taking action. I’ve been thinking a lot recently and those are good news.
Seeing the “over-planning phenomena” as my own fault (not considering seasonal changes) has lead me into kind of a constant shame. It’s hard for me having full control over my energy. It’s hard for everyone.
Starting new projects every time is the consequence of willing for gratification and not achieving it. Finishing projects gives me real satisfaction, but it takes a lot more effort. When I don’t have enough energy, finishing something looks like an impossible task to do. Starting something new feels better for my exhausted soul. I can’t absolutely control that reality, so it’s logical to feel more tired after “finding rest” on not-resting things like scrolling through internet or doing maintenance tasks on my computer. Or starting a new project to cheat my brain and make it think I’m reaching real gratification. Non of those are restful activities for my soul.
I don’t have any conclusion. This is just another thought dropped into this huge vault.
